    Below is the Aliso Street plant of the Los Angeles Lighting company with one of its smaller gas holders in the background. The advertisement on the holder is significant because the use of gas for lighting was waning in the late 1800's and in order to survive as a company we had to push (Guide) people to other uses for our product.

    The meter below seems like any normal #1 Sprague meter but this one is special. Click on the image above and Look at the center section and you will see this meter was created for use in the Los Angeles Lighting system. This meter could not be less than 107 year's old since the company was transformed into the Los Angeles Gas & Electric Company in 1904.
